Let the Singing Begin!

It started with a warm up song....

Then the 7th Age sang a tune....

The teachers even got a little festive...

Tenth Age boys played our favorite "peanuts" song...

And last but certainly best for last, Dr. Trusty lead us out with a holiday poem!

Happy Holidays to all!

Happy Holidays and Thank you Troops

This week we had the chance to get together with our 10th Age buddies to write to troops stationed over seas. We discussed how important the military is to us and how we can show respect and appreciation to them. We paired up with our buddies and went to work creating cards.

A Stuffed Animal and a Hug

We wrote a composition this week about our beloved stuffed animals. Each child had the chance to bring in his favorite stuffed animal to write about. We learned how to use adjectives to describe and added them to our stories to create a great visual picture for the reader.

We had so much fun with our little guys... I wonder who gets to visit the classroom next!

Happy Thanksgiving !

7th Age wanted to wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

A Special Visitor Came to Create!

We had a special visitor come to the classroom today to work on a special project with the class. Mrs. Swiss, my mom, is a art teacher in Baltimore County and had the day off. She came in to share some of her thanksgiving treasures with the boys. They did a great job cutting out different layers to create a 3-D turkey! They even added their own special touch onto the turkeys to make them their own!

Miss Swiss to Mrs. King

Thank you all for your support during this special time!

10th Age Buddies

The 10-2 and 7-2 class have been meeting bi-monthly to work together and share experiences as students at Calvert. The 10th Age boys act as mentors to the younger boys. We have played games, discussed the four pillars of a Calvert students, and even created artwork during this time. Everyone has loved the dynamic of the two classes meeting and we even have had some fun along the way!

Action!

During reading class we have been discussing plays as a form of literature and read a play that is part of our reading series. We then had a chance to preform ourselves. The children each recited lines from non-fiction plays. They all did a great job reading with fluency and expression and are eager to improve their preformance the next time around!

Our First Composition

On Friday we finished our first "composition". The class wrote a very short story in Calvert script about a Fat Cat. We discussed the elements of a paragraph including the title, indentation, and capital letters. They did an excellent job and the boys are so excited to illistrate the composition after we make our corrections.

first weeks of school

This week we started our first lesson on Calvert script. We have been practicing keeping our pencil on the paper until we are finish our formation of lines, circles, and letters. We also have been practicing the importance of sitting in proper writing position! As we say before we begin each lesson-"Assume the writing position!"

The school year is right around the corner!

How exciting it was to come home from a trip to the beach with my best friends to receive my Calvert packet for the upcoming school year. Class lists are set and I am thrilled to be able to imagine, explore, and grow with my new group of 7th Agers! I can not wait for the new year in WONDERLAND!

I have been busy working on some extra special activities for my class and am very eager to share them with the boys of 7-2! I hope they are ready to jump through the rabbit hole (or the door to the classroom) and take themselves to a far off adventure!
